Te Tai Tokerau Sports Awards

The Te Taitokerau Maori Sports Awards is an esteemed event acknowledging and recognizing the elite contribution by Maori of Te Taitokerau to the global sporting arena.

The event promotes the health success and wellbeing of Māori in Northland.

The 2010 event will include a framework for determining the finalists and champions of each category that takes into consideration the nominee’s contribution to Māori society in Te Taitokerau. This can include Nga Manu Korero, Kapa Haka and Tuu Taua achievements.

The awards will be held at Northland College, Kaikohe beginning with a Powhiri and followed by the awards, dinner and entertainment.

Tim Southee – NZ Cricketer
Rene Ranger – Northland NPC and NZ Sevens player
Andrew Murdoch – Olympic Sailor
Samantha Warriner – Olympic Triathlete
Cameron Leslie – Paralympic Swimmer
